Announcement

Officer Sandra Wanzor of the Crowley Police Department sadly has retired from the Crowley Police Department. Officer Wanzor fulfilled many duties with the Crowley Police Department, one of those duties being the Community Resource Officer that was in charge of working the CrowleyNOW Program. During her tenure, she was involved heavily in getting the CrowleyNOW Program off of the ground. She started with a clean slate, studied Crowley's previous crime control programs as well as other cities' crime prevention programs and then forged the vision for a crime prevention program that would serve the City of Crowley for many years to come.

The members of the CrowleyNOW Program will certainly miss Officer Wanzor's dedication to the program and the citizens of Crowley. Her contributions will be remembered!

"Officer Wanzor, on behalf of the CrowleyNOW Program and the citizens of Crowley; Thank You for your years of service to our community. We are saddened by your departure, and wish you well in your future endeavors!"

Latest News

The CrowleyNOW Program has been very active in the recent months. Some changes to the organizational structure and chain of command have been made and there are new items being worked on at this time that will make the organization work more effectively and efficiently. To be informed of the changes that are being made, members need to atttend a monthly grid meeting to get the latest information.

One thing for members to note, our security policies have changed. Any member attending a monthly meeting shall have their member badge displayed to gain entry into the building during our monthly meeting nights. Members that have attended the meetings for the month of September were issued new badges. Those that did not make the September meetings will be issued badges during their next attended meeting. Non-members will not be allowed access into the building during monthly meetings.

Monthly recruit meetings also will have stricter security policies enforced. Any citizen attending a meeting must sign themselves in upon arrival and display a visitor's badge while inside the building. Recruit night is open to any citizen seeking information about the program or wanting to register for membership.

Any questions or concerns regarding the new security policies can be directed to the Program Director.

Be on the look out!

As we all know, the economy is not doing well. Many folks are having financial difficulties due to job loss an reduced hours. Businesses are having a difficult time as well.

With the unemployment rate rising, and many people having financial hardships, the crime rate will go up. When people are in desperate times, they will take separate measures in order to survive. Even those that normally won't partake in criminal activities are more likely to commit crimes when times are hard.

Vigilance is the key to keeping yourself safe and keeping the crime rate low. Be on the look out for any weird activity at your neighbor's homes, watch for unknown persons going door to door, and be mindful that criminals will scope out a target before committing a crime. Unknown people walking the streets and looking into garages and backyards is a definite red flag. If it doesn't look right, then report it. By doing so, our community will remain safe and the crime rate will stay low.
